The last of the famous civilized cities

I've spent the week in Athens.
Where decadence fills the air, where dark alleys are inviting, where men are men and look at you dangerously in the eyes.
Where November nights are warm, where strangers hop into your taxi cab, where cigarette smoke fills up bars, where food is refreshing and every greek word a guy says to you sounds like an invitation.
Where the traffic is murder, where the walks are relaxing, where ancient gardens are cruising areas, where coffee tastes like coffee, where cigarettes are cheap and everybody smokes.
Where people follow their beat, where everything can be done tomorrow, where stress disappears in beads, where dogs linger the streets, where a sweaty neck becomes attractive because it is thick as a log.
Where women remind you of Callas, where the smell of spices gets on your skin, where old gods incite you to vice, where every morning is lazy and every night awake.
Where men are rough, where men are tough, where men kick you in the teeth and then take it up the arse.
Where chaos seems right, where everything fits, where people are real, where leisure is sexy, where luxury feels like it, where people are friends and tell you like it is, where opportunities await, where you want to feel lost, where you want to disappear, where you want to let go and abandon yourself adrift.
I've spent the week and Athens and I can't wait to come back!
